Sips & Spirits A Guide to Wineries, Breweries, & Distilleries in the Valley

As the North and South Mountains embrace the Annapolis Valley, they provide optimal shelter, resulting in mild temperatures and a unique microclimate. This climate, along with the rich, fertile soils of the region, combine to create the perfect recipe for an agricultural bounty. From apples and grapes to hops and grains, they all flourish here – it’s no wonder why the Annapolis Valley has become one of Canada’s most prolific hubs of wineries, breweries, cideries, and distilleries. Take a spirited adventure as you sip and sample Annapolis Valley’s celebrated craft beverages.

Wineries – Sip and savour the Valley’s best

The first on the Nova Scotia wine scene, Domaine de Grand Pré winery, opened in 1979 in the Annapolis Valley. It brought to light the region’s affinity for excellent grape growing. In the following years, many other wineries followed, and today, Annapolis Valley wines are considered world-class in taste and quality. The wine industry now provides more than $245 million and attracts more than 150,000 visitors to Nova Scotia annually. Adding to the tourist appeal, some wineries offer on-site accommodations so you can take a destination vacation and stay among the scenic vineyards while you sip.
